The “Inria International Chairs” (IIC) program was created by Inria to promote longer-term research stays—typically ranging from several weeks to one year—for scientists from international institutions who join Inria research teams in France, and to provide them with greater visibility.

Through the Inria International Chairs (IIC) program, researchers holding a Chair benefit from a high-quality work environment in France and a salary during their stays at Inria. Selected researchers also benefit from a mark of excellence and unique visibility through the Franco-Chilean Binational Center on Artificial Intelligence.

There are two application tracks designed to accommodate different career paths:

  • IIC “Starting Career”: This track is aimed at tenured researchers with between 5 and 12 years of experience following the defense of their doctoral dissertation, as of January 1, 2027. It offers a flexible stay of 6 to 9 months to be completed between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2029, within an Inria team in France. This is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to establish strong international collaborations at a crucial stage in their career and who demonstrate a clear interest in developing a collaboration with Inria, with the support of the chairholder’s home institution.

  • IIC “Advanced Career”: a program aimed at internationally renowned tenured researchers with advanced careers. It allows for a flexible stay of 10 to 12 months, to be carried out between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2031, at an Inria team in France. It is ideal for scientists with an outstanding track record who wish to delve deeper into large-scale research projects and consolidate their global impact.Existen dos modalidades de postulación para adaptarse a diferentes trayectorias profesionales:
